Hello everybody, Thanks again for signing up! Today I want to share a few upcoming changes that will change how you interact with Firefly III, and transactions. The changes are small but could be significant. New settingsNew system wide settings will replace environment variables. This includes the ability to download exchange rates, and some others. This will help people who have a hard time with environment variables or simply don't want to restart Firefly III for these changes to go into effect. The configuration API endpoint will accept these new values. Apply rules to a transaction?You must have seen the "Apply Rules" checkbox that is present with each transaction. There is an issue open on GitHub that asks for this checkbox to be permanent. If I change this, the value of this checkbox (yes/no) will be stored in the database. Firefly III will remember your setting and apply it to all transaction journals in the transaction group. In other words, the setting will apply to each split of a transaction. This means that once you remove this checkbox from a transaction, rules will never again apply to the transaction. This could be very useful, but also very confusing. You are invited to go to GitHub and tell me what you think. Either by voting with (👍/👎) or by replying with your comments. I kind of like the idea, but I'm easily swayed.
